Quick Basil Tomato Soup

Ingredients:

  1. 2 cans (28 ounces each) crushed tomatoes
  2. 3/4 cup (14 ounces) chicken broth
  3. 20 leaves fresh basil, stacked, rolled and sliced to make thin ribbons (chiffonade)
  4. 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
  5. 1 cup heavy cream
  6. 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter
Directions:

In a large saucepan, bring the tomatoes and broth to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 10 minutes.

Add basil and sugar. Reduce heat to low; stir in cream and butter. Warm until butter is melted.
